ALAGOAS EXPANDS LOGISTICS, ENERGY PUSH

Alagoas is advancing investments in logistics, port infrastructure and renewable energy as part of a strategy to strengthen competitiveness and attract new business. The state is expected to post its fourth consecutive year of economic growth above the national average, with nominal GDP projected at R$96 billion in 2025 and growth estimated at 2%, versus 1.8% nationally. Throughput at the Port of Maceió totaled 2.51 million tonnes in 2025, down 6.1% year on year. However, general cargo volumes rose 46.4% to 125,900 tonnes, while liquid bulk increased 14.8% to 537,400 tonnes. Solid bulk declined 12.9% to 1.84 million tonnes. Sugar remained the state’s leading export, generating US$573 million and accounting for 69.6% of export revenue, followed by copper ore at US$225.5 million, or 27.4% of the total.
