Two mills in Maceio (AL) set records in the 2022-23 season. Caeté crushed 2.13 million tons of sugarcane, up 33% from the previous season, while Marituba processed 1.46 million tons of sugarcane, up 19% from the previous crushing, according to agro-industrial superintendent Mário Sérgio Matias. With an increase in output and overcoming weather instabilities, the outcomes were “quite expressive”. Due to the northeast’s above-average rainfall, the two units had to face various damages, particularly to the roads. However, different from the last years, the mills extended the harvest and fulfilled the foreseen harvest schedule.
