BRAZIL’S AÇU PORT HOPES TO DRAW BUSINESSES FOR FERTILIZER, STEEL, AND ENERGY TRANSITION

According to José Firmo, the CEO of the enterprise, the Port of Açu in Sao Joao da Barra (RJ) hopes to draw businesses that produce fertilizers, low-carbon steel, and equipment for the energy transition. At the Multicargo Terminal (T-MULT), it opened the second of three cargo warehouses that are expected to go into operation by the second half of 2023. The new storage expects receiving up to 45,000 tons of copper for export from the state of Goiás. The following one, with a 40,000-ton capacity, ought to allow for the import of fertilizer into the Southeast and Midwest. Firmo says the goal is to “place Rio on the fertilizer map.”
