PORT OF IMBITUBA TO INCREASE STORAGE CAPACITY WITH NEW STORAGE TANKS

The investments in storage will start to take place still in September, with funds gathered through the lease of the Liquid Bulk Terminal (TGL) of the Port of Imbituba. The installation of the new tanks is scheduled for March next year. The new assets will more than double the storage capacity of the Port of Imbituba, going from 4,800 m³ to 10,200 m³. Fábio Riera, CEO of SCPAR Porto de Imbituba, explains the tank swap. “The existing tanks will be partially used, keeping tank one and replacing tanks 2 and 3. The new tanks raise the static storage capacity from 5,000 to 12,000 tonnes. As a result, he estimates that the terminal’s final capacity would be roughly 188,000 tonnes per year.” “The port expects to see operations of caustic soda, but not only this,” said the CEO.
