The new coronavirus pandemic, which has caused chaos on the global economy, has not prevented Brazilian agribusiness from breaking export records and gaining market share this year. On the contrary, the sector says that the emergence of Covid-19 and its consequences made the world give more value to food and national production, whose income was boosted by the favorable exchange rate. This is what has been happening in sectors such as animal protein, soy, corn and coffee, which have achieved excellent performances in the foreign market, including breaking records. In June alone, pork exports reached 96.1 thousand tons, 50.4% more than the volume shipped in the same month in 2019 – 63.9 thousand tons. The revenue in June was 43.4% higher than in the same period last year and reached US $ 198 million. In the grain sector, soybean exports are expected to rise 8% this year, with 79 million tons, compared to 73.44 million last year, according to an estimate by Datagro consultancy. 13 million tons of grain and bran passed through the export corridor of the Port of Paranaguá (PR) from January to July, 10% more than in the same period in 2019. Soy represents more than 97% of the total.
