Petrobras expects biofuels to see strong growth through 2036 and has allocated US$13 billion to energy transition investments under its five year business plan, including about US$5 billion for biofuels. The company is expanding pilot projects and synthetic fuels research through its PBio subsidiary while continuing to assess a return to the ethanol market as a minority investor rather than an operator. Management said the Future Fuel Law provides a supportive regulatory framework for biofuels, while a faster shift toward transport electrification is expected between 2036 and 2046.
