APS LAUNCHES DEEPENING OF SANTOS NAVIGATION CHANNEL

The Santos Port Authority (APS) has issued a service order authorizing Jan de Nul do Brasil Dragagem Ltda. to begin works under the project to deepen the Port of Santos navigation channel from 15 to 16 meters, after obtaining the reversal of a court injunction that had suspended the results of the bidding process. Jan de Nul has started the environmental impact studies (EIA/RIMA) required to obtain environmental licensing from IBAMA, with this first phase expected to take up to 21 months, ahead of the deepening dredging works and subsequent maintenance dredging of the new channel depth for up to two years.
