Brazil’s agribusiness exports reached a record USD 16.6 billion in June, up 14% year-on-year and accounting for 45.7% of the country’s total exports. First-half exports rose 6.2% to a record USD 87.1 billion. Soybean shipments led the performance at USD 6.3 billion and 14.5 million tonnes, up 17.3% in value and 8% in volume, with China purchasing USD 4.4 billion, or 71.1% of total soybean exports. Fresh beef exports climbed 39.2% to USD 1.8 billion, supported by a 20% increase in the average export price. Agribusiness imports also increased, rising 11.6% year-on-year to USD 1.7 billion in June.
