Brazil’s Agriculture Ministry has introduced new rules to classify and inspect corn processing coproducts produced by ethanol plants. The regulation replaces the broad DDG category with 13 classifications, including wet and dry fiber, biorefinery grains, DDG, DDGS, high-protein and high-oil products, and fermented cereal protein. Classification will be based on production method, product form and nutritional value, with labeling requirements for domestic and imported products. The ministry also banned the sale of coproducts with poor storage conditions, unsuitable raw materials or potential animal feed safety risks. Government authorities will oversee inspections of corn processing coproduct batches.
