BRAZIL SEES 2026 TRADE SURPLUS AT $90 BILLION ON STRONGER EXPORTS

Brazil’s MDIC raised its 2026 trade surplus forecast to US$90 billion from US$72.1 billion projected in April, citing stronger export prospects. Exports are now expected to reach US$394.4 billion, while imports are forecast at US$304.4 billion. If achieved, the surplus would be the second highest on record and 32.3% above 2025. June posted a US$9.758 billion trade surplus as exports climbed 24.9% year on year to a record US$36.277 billion, supported by higher crude oil, soybean, meat, fuel and soybean meal shipments. First half trade surplus totaled US$42.357 billion, up from US$30.187 billion in the same period last year.
