ITAQUI PORT HITS RECORD SOYBEAN SHIPMENTS IN MAY

Itaqui Port posted record soybean shipments in May 2026, handling 2.18 million tons and surpassing the previous high of 2.15 million tons. Total dry bulk throughput reached 2.76 million tons, marking the highest monthly volume ever recorded at the Maranhão port complex. Dry bulk accounted for 71% of total cargo handled, while liquid bulk represented 24% and general cargo 4.3%. Year to date, the port has moved 13.37 million tons. The performance underscores Itaqui’s growing role as an export gateway for soybean production from the Matopiba region and Brazil’s Midwest, supported by ongoing investments in infrastructure, innovation and logistics integration to expand capacity and accommodate rising export demand.
