ILHÉUS PORT MILL TO GET EXPANDED INFRASTRUCTURE AS RESTORATION ADVANCES

Restoration of the wheat mill at the Port of Ilhéus is advancing, with the project expanded to include additional storage capacity and operational area within the port complex. Leased by Jav Indústria de Alimentos, part of Grupo Maratá, the facility has been inactive for more than 17 years. The redevelopment includes recovery of the existing structure and installation of six new silos, restoring and expanding handling capacity. Around 110 workers are engaged in the project, which has faced delays due to heavy rainfall and repairs required for marine corrosion. Equipment for key milling operations has already been delivered, marking progress toward commissioning. Backed by an investment of approximately R$120 million, the project is expected to strengthen cargo throughput, support agribusiness supply chains and enhance the Port of Ilhéus’ role as a logistics hub in southern Bahia.
