Brazil’s GDP grew 1.1% in Q1 2026 versus the prior quarter, the strongest quarter-on-quarter gain since Q1 2025, when it rose 1.3%, according to national statistics agency IBGE. Year-on-year, the economy expanded 1.8%; on a rolling 12-month basis, growth reached 2%. GDP totaled BRL 3.3 trillion in current prices. All three major sectors posted quarterly gains: agriculture led at 2.0%, followed by industry at 1.0% and services at 0.5%. Within industry, mineral extraction rose 3.6% and construction gained 2.9%. Services — representing 70% of the economy — were driven by information and communications (+2.4%) and real estate (+1.2%).
