RS 2024/25 HARVEST: WHEAT CROPS SHOW RECOVERY

Dry weather accelerated wheat planting in Rio Grande do Sul, with 82% of the estimated area sown, recovering from earlier delays caused by June rains. Most wheat crops are in the vegetative stage, showing recovery despite some frost in lower areas. Planting should be completed within the recommended timeframe. White oat sowing reached 92%, with crops mainly in the vegetative stage. Some frost damage was noted but overall crop health remains good. Canola sowing is nearly complete (98%), although delays may affect yields and summer crop planning. Around 15% of canola is flowering and may have suffered frost damage. Barley planting is wrapping up with good crop development and excellent phytosanitary conditions. Emater/RS forecasts the following planted areas and yields: wheat (1.2 million ha, 2,997 kg/ha), white oats (401,273 ha, 2,254 kg/ha), canola (203,206 ha, 1,737 kg/ha), and barley (27,337 ha, 3,198 kg/ha).
