Wheat planting in Rio Grande do Sul is delayed due to excessive rain and soil moisture, with only a small portion of planned areas sown. Despite this, established crops are developing well. Farmers are cautious, using more saved seeds and investing less due to reduced planting areas. In regions like Santa Rosa and Soledade, sowing has reached about 10%. White oats face similar climate challenges but show good development. Canola planting is advancing, with significant area increases in regions like Frederico Westphalen and Santa Maria. Barley sowing has started and is expanding in some municipalities, especially for brewing and animal feed. Vetch crops planted earlier show healthy development, and recent rains haven’t caused major issues. Emater/RS continues to survey planting intentions and productivity estimates for 2025.
