RAINFALL BOOSTS BRAZILIAN SECOND CORN CROP

Cepea of Esalq/USP states that the second corn harvest in Brazil is growing well because of the recent rainfall, which has increased hopes for output. While the summer crop is being harvested, the second season’s seeds are nearly ready to be sown. Producers have been selling domestic corn just when necessary. Although prices have decreased due to the foreign exchange depreciation, some buyers still seek corn. Based on the Cepea indicator, the average cost of a 60-kilogram bag in Campinas (SP) was BRL 61.78 last Thursday. This indicates a 0.72% monthly decline overall for March.
