PARANA: SOYBEAN 2022/23 HARVEST TO GROW 78% AFTER DROUGHT STRESS

The soybean crop in the state of Paraná could increase by 78%, reaching a record level of 21.5 million tons in 2022/23, with a slight increase in the cultivation area and a strong yield recovery after the drought stress in several regions, said the Department of Rural Economy (Deral). Paraná harvested 12 million tons in 2021/22, due to bad weather. The state is likely to plant a record soybean area in the 2022/23 season of 5.73 million hectares, up 1% from the previous crop. The average productivity of crops, under normal weather conditions, could increase from 2.14 tons per hectare to 3.75 tons per hectare.
