PARANÁ BEGINS PLANTING SECOND CORN CROP WITH RECORD EXPECTATION

Producers in Paraná’s southern area have begun planting the second corn harvest of 2023-24. It is expected that 2.4 million hectares will be planted, resulting in a yield of 14.4 million tons. The southern area of Parana is the first to begin planting since it has lower average winter temperatures, allowing for an earlier harvest and a lower incidence of risks. Over 1,600 hectares have been planted so far. With the soybean harvest set to begin in the first half of January, corn planting should pick up across the state, as it shares some of the same land. The major harvest of the season should be finished by the end of March.
