The estimate is for 7 million tons of sugar. “This crop will come with a lot of sugarcane, with a good price, which is not usual, as price hardly ever comes after a good crop and vice versa, but the estimates are optimistic”, he said. And the optimism was not shaken even with the price of the ATR (Total Recoverable Sugars) for sugarcane being reduced by around 15% due to drops in ethanol and sugar prices in the domestic and foreign markets.
