Timac, a subsidiary of the Roullier Group based in France, secured the concession for the designated area within the Port of Maceió through an auction on the B3 stock exchange in December 2020, with a winning bid of BRL 50,000. On June 7, Timac Agro extended invitations to various stakeholders, including the Maceió City Hall, the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, the State Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA), representatives from the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, as well as associations, trade unions, universities, and non-governmental organizations. This public hearing aims to address the potential environmental impact associated with the proposed acid receiving and storage unit within the capital of Alagoas.
