GRAIN PRODUCTION FROM MATOPIBA COULD GROW 37% IN TEM YEARS

According to Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture, the region known as Matopiba, which includes the states of Maranhao, Tocantins, Piau, and Bahia, will produce 48 million tons on 11 million cultivated hectares over the next ten years. The result for the 2032-33 season is expected to be 37% higher than the current season. The growth will be driven mostly by soybean crops, corn second crop, and cotton, and will be aided by increased output. If verified, the region’s growth will exceed that of Brazil, which is expected to increase by 24.1% compared to the 2022/23 harvest, or 77.5 million tons, to 390 million tons of grain.
