Corn ethanol production can reach 2.9 billion liters in 2020

The production of corn ethanol in 2020 may reach 2.9 billion liters, according to Guilherme Nolasco. He is president of the National Corn Ethanol Union (UNEM) and made the estimate during a presentation at the Start of Harvest event, held on 03/11 in Ribeirão Preto (SP). Nolasco projected from the plants in operation and which are in the opening phase. Only in the first half of the year will the new FS Bioenergia unit in Sorriso (MT), with a capacity of 500 million liters per year, and the Cerradinho plant in Chapadão do Céu (GO), with 200 million liters per year. If production in that year reaches 2.9 billion liters, it will exceed by 49% the total corn ethanol produced between 01/04 to 01/03. During this period, the units produced 1.4 billion liters, according to the Union of the Sugarcane Industry (UNICA).
