CORN DOMINATES OCTOBER SHIPMENTS THROUGH PORT OF SANTOS

In October, corn exports through the Port of Santos grew by 29.6%, reaching a total of 3.2 million tons. Over the course of the year, the port experienced a 34.5% increase, reaching 14.8 million tons. Despite unfavorable weather conditions, the Port of Santos maintained its annual record at 142 million tons, a 2.7% increase compared to the same period last year. Anderson Pomini, President of the Port Authority of Santos, attributed the performance to rainy weather but highlighted it as the best historical result for solid vegetable bulk shipments. Containerized cargo totaled 439,743 TEU in October, with a 2.6% reduction. The Port of Santos contributed to 28.4% of Brazil’s trade flow, with China representing 30.4% of international trade transactions. The state of São Paulo held a 54.6% share in trade transactions via the Santos port complex.
