StoneX projects sugarcane production in Brazil’s Center-South at 622.1 million tons for 2024/25, a 5.4% decrease from the previous year’s record. The consultancy attributes this decline partly to erratic weather patterns influenced by the El Niño phenomenon. Favorable conditions during the 2023/24 harvest may have impacted the upcoming cycle negatively. Sugar production is forecasted to rise by 1% to 43.1 million tons, with ethanol production expected to decrease by 10.4% to 24.5 billion liters, mainly due to reduced hydrous ethanol output. Corn ethanol production is set to increase, contributing to a total biofuel production of 31.7 billion liters, with ethanol from corn comprising 22.7%.
