BRAZIL TO DOUBLE CORN EXPORTS IN JANUARY, SOYBEANS LIKELY TO DECLINE

According to the National Association of Cereal Exporters (Anec), Brazil is likely to export 4.33 million tons of corn in January, nearly doubling the volume of 2.2 million tons exported in the same month in 2022. Soybeans foreign sales are expected to fall during the same period. If confirmed, it will be the highest volume for January since 2016, when Brazil exported 4.5 million tons of corn. The strong start to the year follows the country’s record exports of 43.17 million tons in 2022, compared to 20.6 million in 2021. Anec, on the other hand, forecasts 1.3 million tons of soybean shipments in January, down from 2.28 million in the same period last year.
