VLI REGISTERS RECORD SUGAR MOVEMENT ON THE CENTRO-ATLÂNTICA RAILWAY IN 2024/25

Despite a 5.3% drop in sugar production in Brazil’s Center-South region, logistics company VLI achieved a record 6.2 million tonnes of sugar transported in the 2024/25 harvest via Ferrovia Centro-Atlântica. The strong performance, according to VLI, stems from strategic innovations, such as pneumatic tampers for unloading and optimized terminal operations. While sugar exports remained stable at 35.13 million tonnes due to stock carryover from the previous season, VLI maintained its port performance by shipping 5 million tonnes through Tiplam, in Santos. Climate challenges led to more compacted sugar, complicating logistics, but co-created solutions with clients improved operations.
