Santa Catarina’s agribusiness dominated the state’s economy in 2024, generating 65% of total exports (USD 7.57 billion), led by strong demand from China. While the sector’s total production value dipped slightly by 0.5% to BRL 63.7 billion due to apple and soybean crop losses plus lower corn prices, it demonstrated remarkable resilience. The livestock sector drove 55.7% of production value, setting export records in pork (1.7 billion) and chicken (2.3 billion). Crop production contributed over 24%, led by soybeans and rice, while honey exports surged 51%. The forestry sector grew 10.3%, while rural credit expanded by BRL 7.08 billion, with cooperatives gaining importance. According to Epagri/Cepa’s Annual Agricultural Synthesis, Santa Catarina’s agribusiness remains the state’s economic backbone and a national benchmark for innovation and sustainability
