SUMMER CORN HARVEST HITS 90% OF PROJECTED AREA IN RS, REPORTS EMATER/RS-ASCAR

According to Emater/RS-Ascar, the 2024-25 summer corn harvest in Rio Grande do Sul has surpassed 90% of the expected area, up 1% from last week. This progress outpaces both last year’s 84% and the five-year average of 82% for the same period. The current slowdown in harvest pace is due to most major producing regions having already finished in January. The remaining areas – smaller in scale – are progressing more gradually, as farmers often leave mature crops in the field due to limited storage capacity and steep discounts on high-moisture grains.
