The 2024/25 corn harvest in Rio Grande do Sul is expected to reach 4.7 million tons, a 6.1% increase from the previous year, thanks to favorable weather, proper management practices, and irrigation. The state is projected to harvest 28.05 million tons of crops from 8.4 million hectares. Corn productivity is up by 21.6%, with an estimated 6,866 kg per hectare. Soybean production, however, saw a 17.4% decrease, totaling 15.07 million tons due to adverse weather. Other crops like irrigated rice will cover 970,194 hectares, with an estimated production of 8.12 million tons. First harvest beans are expected to yield 49.9 thousand tons, but second harvest beans will see a 46.5% drop in area.
