TERMINAL EXPECTED TO DOUBLE SANTOS PORT CAPACITY TO BE AUCTIONED IN NOVEMBER, SAYS MINISTER

Silvio Costa Filho, Minister of Ports and Airports, announced that the auction for STS10, a new container terminal at the Port of Santos, will take place between October and November 2024. The project, estimated at R$ 4.5 billion, aims to increase the port’s container handling capacity by 50%, from 6 million to 9 million TEUs annually. The auction will be reviewed by the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU). Costa Filho also highlighted that the National Secretariat of Ports held eight auctions in 2024, securing R$ 3.74 billion in investments. The Ministry plans 37 more auctions for the remaining two years of the administration, with private investments in the sector expected to reach R$ 18 billion this year.
