Minister Silvio Costa Filho of Ports and Airports presented the ministry’s initiatives for the next two years, focusing on expanding Brazil’s economic capacity and creating jobs. Key plans include auctioning 20 port units in 2025, with the Santos 10 Container Terminal set to attract a record investment of R$ 3.51 billion. The construction of the Santos/Guarujá tunnel is also planned, with R$ 6 billion in investments. Additionally, the concession of the Port of Paranaguá’s access channel will involve R$ 1 billion in investments. In the waterway sector, plans for the Paraguay River Waterway concession are underway. The minister emphasized that these projects aim to improve port efficiency and boost international trade, while addressing challenges like droughts in the Amazon and Solimões rivers.
