CORN PRICES HOLD STEADY IN DECEMBER’S DOMESTIC MARKET

In most of the locations that are monitored by the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea), corn prices remain stable. December 13th saw a price of BRL 72.93 in the Campinas (SP) area, down 0.44% from the previous day but up 0.22% for the month. Sellers pulling back are the backbone of the market. With some warehouses, grains, and transportation going into recess at this time of year, the value of those assets is increased because of the limited availability. Some customers claim they find it difficult to resupply their stores, which drives them to pay extra for the cereal. At 119.63 million tons, the overall corn output in 2024-25 should be 3.4% bigger than that of 2023-2024 harvested this year.
