VLI DEBUTS IN EXPORTING DDGS, A CO-PRODUCT OF THE CORN ETHANOL INDUSTRY

Logistics company VLI made its first shipment of DDGS, or distillers dried grains with solubles, a co-product of the production of corn ethanol used in livestock nutritional supplementation, as reported by the company on Tuesday, 10. The cargo, of around 45 thousand tons, originated from Inpasa. According to VLI, the expectation is to load five ships at the Terminal de Produtos Divers 3 of the Tubarão Complex, in Vitória (ES), bound for the Asian market, totaling around 200 thousand tons this year. Of an expected production of 4 million tons of DDGS in the 2024/25 harvest, a volume between 800 thousand and 1 million tons should be exported by Brazil in the period, said VLI, citing data from the National Union of Corn Ethanol (Unem) . The exported cargo originates in Sinop, north of Mato Grosso, the largest producer of cereal and corn ethanol.
