PORT OF SANTOS SETS NEW CARGO HANDLING RECORD WITH 150 MILLION TONS

Cargo handling in Brazilian ports is expected to increase by 6% over the previous year. The largest port in Brazil, Port of Santos, has already surpassed the milestone of 150 million tons handled, setting a record for the time frame. Despite the expressive figure, the potential may have been far higher. A 60% increase in the number of commodities handled would be required to make Brazil more representative in global trade. This panorama was widely debated during the Porto-Industry Connection Forum, an event organized by Record Litoral e Vale, held in São Paulo.
