SUGAR EXPORTS WRAP UP THIS MONTH WITH A 30% INCREASE COMPARED TO OCTOBER 2023

According to data from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex), Brazilian sugar and molasses exports in October 2024 increased by 29.8% in volume when compared to the same month in 2023, reaching 3.73 million tons. The average value per ton decreased 11.8%, from USD 536.5 to USD 473.1. This led to a 14.4% increase in the overall yield, which reached USD 1.76 billion. With 31.7 million tons exported this year, up from 31.3 million tons in 2023, Brazil has already eclipsed the previous annual record. Consultancy Argus attributed this increase to November 2023 import limitations on sugar from India.
