CZARNIKOW RAISES GLOBAL SUGAR SURPLUS FORECAST FOR 2024/25

Czarnikow raised its forecast for the global sugar surplus in the 2024/25 season to 4.7 million tonnes, driven by improved production in Colombia. The company now expects global sugar supply to reach 184.7 million tonnes, 0.4 million more than previously forecast and significantly above last season’s 181.5 million. The adjustment follows expectations of recovery in Colombia’s sugar production. Global sugar consumption for 2024/25 is projected at 180 million tonnes, up 0.3 million from last month’s forecast, and higher than the 177.6 million estimated for the previous season.
