BAHIA’S AGRICULTURAL GDP SOARS TO BRL 35.1 BILLION

Data from the Secretariat of Agriculture and SEI show that Bahia’s agriculture grew 13.1% in the second quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. At BRL 35.1 billion, the sector accounted for 28.4% of the GDP of Bahia. Driven by soybean, corn, and cotton harvests, Aggregate II—which comprises activities including agriculture and livestock—accounted for 59.6% of the total. Moving BRL 51.96 billion in the first half of 2024, the sector grew by 5.2% over 2023. Crucially for this success were the seasonality of crops and the appreciation of goods like coffee and oranges.
