The Brazilian government plans to increase the anhydrous ethanol blend in gasoline from 27% to 30% by March 2025, following the approval of the Fuel of the Future bill. This new legislation allows blends between 22% and 35%, and the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) will finalize the decision. The bill is part of Brazil’s largest decarbonization project for transportation. Toyota confirmed the 30% blend is technically feasible, which enhances investment predictability. The law also promotes new fuel production, such as sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and biogas, while boosting the sugarcane and soybean industries. Projections suggest that the law could unlock R$260 billion in investments and reduce carbon emissions by 705 million tons by 2037.
