FIRE IN SUGARCANE FIELDS: IMPACTS OF FIRES AND DROUGHT FOR THE 2024-25 HARVEST

The recent fires have caused over R$800 million in losses to Brazil’s sugarcane industry, affecting over 100,000 hectares in September, or 2.3% of the state’s total planted area. The fires also hit 8,049 properties in 317 municipalities, with total agribusiness losses exceeding R$1 billion.
