MAPA REALLOCATES CROP PLAN RESOURCES TO FINANCE SUGARCANE REPLANTING

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) is developing a credit line to help replant sugarcane crops damaged by fires in Brazil, namely in São Paulo. Minister Carlos Fávaro announced that the Crop Plan will be reformed to release up funding for replanting. An estimated 80,000 hectares of sugarcane were damaged, reducing production. Brazil, the world’s top producer of sugarcane, has already recorded sugar exports totaling more than USD 8.69 billion this year. Additional solutions for restoring the affected areas are being studied.
