PORT OF ITAQUI RECORDS LARGEST MONTHLY CARGO THROUGHPUT EVER

In July, the Port of Itaqui set a new record by handling 3.7 million tonnes of cargo, surpassing the previous 3.6 million tonnes record from October 2023. Despite 10% higher rainfall in early 2024, solid bulk productivity rose by 9% and other bulk cargo by 6%. Solid bulk movement increased by 13.1% to 2,931,296 tons, and fertilizer throughput surged 44.9% to 478,228 tons. In the first half of 2024, the port handled 15.6 million tons of cargo, with soybeans making up 51.1% of the total. Diesel and fertilizers accounted for 18.5% and 9.1%, respectively. Investments in ship-to-ship operations and aluminum exports further boosted performance.
