EXPORTS GROW BY 2.7% WITH STEADY DEMAND FOR BRAZILIAN AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS

Exports from Brazilian agriculture increased by 2.7% from January to April 2024, reaching USD 52 billion. Despite a 6% decrease in dollar prices, the volume of exports grew by 9%. Notably, there was a significant increase in the export of cotton (up 230%), sugar (up 80%), and coffee (up 50%). Soybeans remained the main exported product, accounting for 38% of the total value, although revenue from soybeans fell by 13% compared to the previous year. Despite China’s declining share of 32%, it remains the largest buyer, followed by Eurozone countries (13%) and the US (6.8%). Cepea expects a steady demand for Brazilian agricultural products in the coming months, despite the global economic slowdown.
