SOYBEANS AND CELLULOSE BOOST MATO GROSSO DO SUL’S TRADE BALANCE; EXPORTS SURPASS 5 BILLION DOLLARS IN 2024

Soybeans and cellulose boosted Mato Grosso do Sul’s trade balance, resulting in a USD 3.71 billion surplus from January to June. Exports reached USD 5.098 billion, with soybeans accounting for 37.94% (USD 2.3 billion), followed by cellulose (20.49%, USD 771.6 million) and beef (443 million). China was the primary destination for exports (49.32%). Imports reached BRL 1.38 billion, with natural gas accounting for 43.6%. The processing industry grew exports by 0.32%, while agriculture declined by 14.39%. Três Lagoas was the greatest municipal exporter, accounting for 23.82% of total exports.
