MARKET OPENINGS MARK THE BEST SEMESTER IN THE HISTORY OF AGRICULTURE FOREIGN TRADE

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) successfully opened 72 new markets for Brazilian agricultural products in the first semester of 2024, benefiting 30 countries and surpassing previous records. The most productive month was June, with 26 markets opened in 13 countries. Minister Carlos Fávaro highlighted that, during Lula’s government, 150 markets were opened in 18 months. These openings span all continents, including 13 countries in Asia and 7 in the Americas, and include products such as fish, pork, and green coffee. The expansion greatly boosted exports, with agriculture accounting for 49.6% of exports in the first five months of 2024, generating USD 67.17 billion. These results are attributed to the collaboration between MAPA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
