CORN HARVEST 2ND CROP IN THE CENTER-SOUTH GOES TO 49%

According to AgRural, the second corn crop in south-central Brazil was harvested last Thursday, accounting for 49% of the cultivated area, up from 34% the previous week and 16% in the same period last year. This is the quickest rate in the AgRural time series, aided by dry weather and above-normal temperatures. Good harvests have been confirmed in Mato Grosso and Goias, but other states in the center-south area are expected to have a lower yield due to heat and a lack of rainfall during crop development.
