ITAQUI PORT BREAKS RECORD OF SOYBEAN EXPORT OPERATIONS

Itaqui Port set a new record in May 2024, exporting 2,151,821 tonnes of soybeans, surpassing the previous record of 2,017,627 tonnes in June 2023. This accounted for 82.8% of the year-to-date volume and 92.2% of mechanized bulk solid handling for the month. The Maranhão Grain Terminal (TEGRAM) handled 69.68% of the volume, while VLI managed 30.32%. The port saw 33 dockings, the highest monthly total, with berth 100 being the most productive. Loading productivity reached 1,600 tons per hour, the highest in three years. Most exports went to China, with additional shipments to Turkey, Spain, Egypt, and Italy. Port officials emphasized continued investment to enhance capacity and efficiency.
