PLANTING OF BARLEY AND WHEAT IS PROGRESSING IN PARANA DUE TO DRY WEATHER

The planting of winter crops in Paraná, especially barley and wheat, is progressing well due to drier weather following the heavy rains at the end of May. According to the Deral Agricultural Conjuncture Bulletin from May 31 to June 6, 27% of the barley area was planted. The Campos Gerais Maltaria inauguration has boosted barley production, and Paraná is expected to produce 334.6 thousand tons of barley, a 20% increase despite the reduced planted area. As for wheat, 73% of the estimated 1.12 million hectares have already been sowed, and a harvest of 3.8 million tons is predicted, which is 4% higher than the previous crop. The per-bag price is BRL 75.00, exceeding the variable cost of BRL 67.41.
