ETHANOL CONSUMPTION REACHES 7.22 BILLION LITERS IN 2024, AN INCREASE OF 57%

In April, Brazil’s hydrated ethanol consumption reached 1.82 billion liters, up 55.5% year-on-year but down 3.7% from March. Year-to-date consumption totaled 7.22 billion liters, a 57% increase and the highest since records began in 2008, according to the ANP. Gasoline consumption fell to 3.58 billion liters in April, a 1.2% monthly and 2.5% annual decline, with year-to-date demand at 14.18 billion liters, down 6.2%. Ethanol’s market share dropped to 26.4% in April, though up from 18.4% last year. São Paulo’s ethanol demand was 863 million liters, a 40.1% annual increase. Total Otto cycle fuel demand in April was 4.87 billion liters, an 8.2% annual rise.
