SECOND CROP CORN HARVEST IN PARANÁ ADVANCES TO 7% OF THE AREA, SAYS DERAL

The second crop corn harvest in Paraná has reached 7% of the cultivated area, indicating a faster pace compared to recent years, according to the Department of Rural Economy (Deral). At this time last year and in 2022, no harvest was recorded, and in 2021, only 1% was harvested. Early planting and dry weather, which affected yields, helped crops mature sooner. The estimate for Paraná’s second corn harvest in the 2023/24 season has been reduced to 13.23 million tons, about 300 thousand tons below the April forecast, due to dry and hot weather. Private consultancies are also reporting lower productivity for Paraná.
