HARVEST OF THE 2024 OFF-SEASON REACHES 2% IN THE CENTER-SOUTH, DRIVEN BY MT AND PR, SAYS AGRURAL

The 2024 corn harvest in the Center-South of Brazil reached 2% of the cultivated area by May 23, up from 0.4% the previous week and 0.8% the same period last year, according to AgRural. Harvesting is underway in Mato Grosso and Paraná, with Mato Grosso showing higher-than-expected yields, while Paraná suffers from drought and heat-related losses. AgRural projects Brazil’s total corn production for the 2023/24 season at 118.4 million tons. In the off-season, strong productivity in Mato Grosso and Goiás is expected to partially offset drought-related losses in other Central-South states.
